Home project #3 : DIning room idea

Monday, May 23, 2011

I am here again for my home project series, but since we got our house key last week, so next post in this blog will be no more imaginary ideas instead I will post the real project journey.

I was struggling to choose the suitable dining set for our house. The whole house concept is modern vintage (in my opinion). Well we decided to pain our living and dining wall area with light gray color (toward white color family) and feature wall is going to be in aqua blue. Our living hall furniture are mix in between Indonesian teak wood and Burma vintage wood. But our kitchen is consider modern contemporary (we decided to use the existing design that the previous owner left for us, due to the budget constrain), the picture of the kitchen I posted it here, previously.

So with the living hall, dining hall and kitchen all open and connected, we kind of having situation here. Because when we were talking about living hall, obviously will be having a vintage and rustic touch, but when we are talking about the kitchen design, it is pretty much modern contemporary. And the dining hall is in between. That is way it is kinda difficult to choose the dining table set. I really can't decide about it, I know I want it in round table, but which concept we are going is still 50-50. Thus, I decided to not choose any till the whole renovation done then the dining set will be suit whatever gap behind.

What do you think? do you think modern and vintage/rustic can match together?

  1. I personally love this look. Adding in a few vintage pieces takes the edge off the modern and makes a room more homely.
